Topic/Skill: Yes/No Questions, Dictation, Sentence Structure 

Feedback provided to tutee: Jairo practiced pronunciation and spelling. I corrected his grammar and pronunciation after he wrote and spoke. I explained everything he had doubts about thoroughly. For example, I would say a sentence, correct his spelling, explain sentence structure, and verb conjugation. 

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee learned: Jairo and I reviewed a worksheet he completed in class. He wanted further clarification on how verb conjugation and sentence structure changes when converting a sentence into a yes/no question. We discussed patterns in yes/no questions, and I explained how the verb is affected. We also practiced writing and listening comprehension through dictation. I made up my own sentences and reviewed spelling errors. We also analyzed the sentence structure and the verb conjugation in the examples.

  Date/Time: Monday 1/25 Location: Zoom Topic/Skill: Reading & Poetry part II Feedback provided to tutee: Pronunciation corrections, new vocabulary, and explanations for poems when misunderstood Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:  Some of the poems I picked ended up being inappropriate because they used Old English or were at a lower reading level than my tutee's so I am learning more about finding level-appropriate materials. It seems EFL/ESL students tend to be very good at listening and reading but struggle with writing and speaking so I will try to find more activities that focus on developing those skills.

 Date/Time: Wednesday 1/20 1:00-1:50 Topic/Skill: Speaking Teacher presentation: Asking questions out of an activity book Classroom management: A lot of error correction on pronunciation and repetition of questions Materials: pdf textbook provided by instructor Student Participation: Took turns answering questions about themselves Feedback provided: corrected pronunciation and vocabulary mistakes Lessons on teaching you learned: I learned that sometimes you have to get creative when asking questions of students. This can include hand motions, repetition, rephrasing, and other means to make your questions clear and understandable. I also loved that this instructor was having fun while teaching!
