Topic/Skill: Review of everything she has learned 

Feedback provided to tutee: reinforcement of any new word pronunciations

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Je-ah did such a great job today! I think she is more comfortable with the mini introduction she helped write about herself. This was the first time I heard her speak in a fluent sentence! She was able to fill in the description of her dad and complete the review activity without any help. I had a major learning experience today which was always have a backup in mind. The website I had prepared for our full review of everything we have covered the past 5 sessions did not work (I think the session expired), so everything I had typed into it disappeared. I was able to recover, but then the website stopped working on her end. Thankfully, I realized we could do the activity through Zoom whiteboard. It was just a bit less exciting and not convenient.

  Date/Time: Monday 1/25 Location: Zoom Topic/Skill: Reading & Poetry part II Feedback provided to tutee: Pronunciation corrections, new vocabulary, and explanations for poems when misunderstood Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:  Some of the poems I picked ended up being inappropriate because they used Old English or were at a lower reading level than my tutee's so I am learning more about finding level-appropriate materials. It seems EFL/ESL students tend to be very good at listening and reading but struggle with writing and speaking so I will try to find more activities that focus on developing those skills.

 Date/Time: Wednesday 1/20 1:00-1:50 Topic/Skill: Speaking Teacher presentation: Asking questions out of an activity book Classroom management: A lot of error correction on pronunciation and repetition of questions Materials: pdf textbook provided by instructor Student Participation: Took turns answering questions about themselves Feedback provided: corrected pronunciation and vocabulary mistakes Lessons on teaching you learned: I learned that sometimes you have to get creative when asking questions of students. This can include hand motions, repetition, rephrasing, and other means to make your questions clear and understandable. I also loved that this instructor was having fun while teaching!
