Topic/skills: composition = dream job topic sentence, practiced using "I would like to become...." sentences as well as talking about FUTURE goals. 

Feedback: Mariama's English is flawless, she understands even more than the basics, but I must say that sometimes, she mixes French grammar with English grammar: "I asked many questions amazing" instead of "I asked many amazing questions". Repetition will help Mariama crystalize the rule.

Lessons Learned: I would say that I have acquired a lot more patience, as well as familiarity with both of my tutees (Dojun and Mariama). It is discomforting to know that I only have three more sessions left with each one...

  Date/Time: Monday 1/25 Location: Zoom Topic/Skill: Reading & Poetry part II Feedback provided to tutee: Pronunciation corrections, new vocabulary, and explanations for poems when misunderstood Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:  Some of the poems I picked ended up being inappropriate because they used Old English or were at a lower reading level than my tutee's so I am learning more about finding level-appropriate materials. It seems EFL/ESL students tend to be very good at listening and reading but struggle with writing and speaking so I will try to find more activities that focus on developing those skills.

 Date/Time: Wednesday 1/20 1:00-1:50 Topic/Skill: Speaking Teacher presentation: Asking questions out of an activity book Classroom management: A lot of error correction on pronunciation and repetition of questions Materials: pdf textbook provided by instructor Student Participation: Took turns answering questions about themselves Feedback provided: corrected pronunciation and vocabulary mistakes Lessons on teaching you learned: I learned that sometimes you have to get creative when asking questions of students. This can include hand motions, repetition, rephrasing, and other means to make your questions clear and understandable. I also loved that this instructor was having fun while teaching!
