Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: Olivia does a great job of building on skills and expectations. She introduced the PowerPoint presentation students were to complete last time and has been allowing students time during class to further develop their content and material. I love that she pairs students together to work on the assignment and regularly checks in on them to provide feedback and answer any questions. She shared a Google doc she uses to organize her class and it's great because it's basically a one-stop-shop for all the expectations and links. I love this clear organization and think it would be great to share a document with a student/tutee and use it as the main way of keeping all necessary material accessible.

  Date/Time: Monday 1/25 Location: Zoom Topic/Skill: Reading & Poetry part II Feedback provided to tutee: Pronunciation corrections, new vocabulary, and explanations for poems when misunderstood Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:  Some of the poems I picked ended up being inappropriate because they used Old English or were at a lower reading level than my tutee's so I am learning more about finding level-appropriate materials. It seems EFL/ESL students tend to be very good at listening and reading but struggle with writing and speaking so I will try to find more activities that focus on developing those skills.

 Date/Time: Wednesday 1/20 1:00-1:50 Topic/Skill: Speaking Teacher presentation: Asking questions out of an activity book Classroom management: A lot of error correction on pronunciation and repetition of questions Materials: pdf textbook provided by instructor Student Participation: Took turns answering questions about themselves Feedback provided: corrected pronunciation and vocabulary mistakes Lessons on teaching you learned: I learned that sometimes you have to get creative when asking questions of students. This can include hand motions, repetition, rephrasing, and other means to make your questions clear and understandable. I also loved that this instructor was having fun while teaching!
