Teacher Presentation: Timed tests

Classroom Management: Writing and speaking, commenting on other students' work

Materials: Computers with access to Canvas, pictures from textbook, devices to record 

Student Participation: Timed writing assignments based on a prompt, a speaking assignment based on a picture from a textbook, and correcting several grammatically incorrect sentences.

Feedback Provided: Corrections on common grammar mistakes made by the class

Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: I learned what types of grammar materials were appropriate for advanced students. Mr. Flemming also provided me with some good teaching resources and allowed me to see how he organizes his courses on Canvas.

So I learned to go back and forth between teaching them different things.   Date/Time: Monday 1/25 Location: Zoom Topic/Skill: Reading & Poetry part II Feedback provided to tutee: Pronunciation corrections, new vocabulary, and explanations for poems when misunderstood Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:  Some of the poems I picked ended up being inappropriate because they used Old English or were at a lower reading level than my tutee's so I am learning more about finding level-appropriate materials. It seems EFL/ESL students tend to be very good at listening and reading but struggle with writing and speaking so I will try to find more activities that focus on developing those skills.

 Date/Time: Wednesday 1/20 1:00-1:50 Topic/Skill: Speaking Teacher presentation: Asking questions out of an activity book Classroom management: A lot of error correction on pronunciation and repetition of questions Materials: pdf textbook provided by instructor Student Participation: Took turns answering questions about themselves Feedback provided: corrected pronunciation and vocabulary mistakes Lessons on teaching you learned: I learned that sometimes you have to get creative when asking questions of students. This can include hand motions, repetition, rephrasing, and other means to make your questions clear and understandable. I also loved that this instructor was having fun while teaching!
